There are a ton of Internet marketing tools available to you. In fact, you could easily become overwhelmed with the choices and resources that other successful Internet marketers try to tell you that you need. I’ve compiled 4 of the best, most useful and most important Internet marketing tools for your blog.
Google Analytics (GA)
The first tool almost goes without mentioning but I’m going to list it anyway… Google Analytics.Google Analytics (GA) tracks your visitor count. It will show you how people are engaging throughout your site and what traffic sources are causing most of the conversions. Rather than optimizing for traffic alone, you should use this tool to help you optimize for conversions. Because whether you like it or not, it’s not about having a lot of traffic, it’s about having decent traffic that converts into customers. Google Analytics will show you this information as long as you set up goal and conversion tracking. It’s that simple. If you don’t have goal and conversion tracking setup, there’s really no point in using GA. You are just wasting time if that is the case.
The second tool I have for you is UberSuggest. You ultimately want to get rankings and search traffic. Search traffic is the most consistent traffic you can get. Sure social media traffic is quicker and easier to get but believe it or not, Google’s algorithm updates are not as crazy as Facebook’s. On Facebook you can go from getting 10,000 visits a day from organic reach to only 1,000 depending on their algorithm changes. Compared to FB, Google organic traffic is very consistent. Use UberSuggest to type in the words you are getting traffic for already that are driving conversions and it will show you more that you could be going after from a paid angle and an organic approach. This will help to boost your overall conversions and sales.
Here’s a little video showing a quick demo of UberSuggest:
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is the 3rd tool I have for your arsenal. What you can do with the search console is to look at all of your posts, how many impressions they are getting, how many clicks they get and the click through rate. Then, look for the posts that get less than a 5% click through rate and examine all the keywords that are getting impressions from those posts and then integrate all those keywords carefully into each respective blog post. We rewrite the content to encompass all of the relevant keywords. This makes it 2-5 times more in depth. Not only should you examine the keywords and rewrite the content, you should also check the URLs of the posts and assess for conversions within Google Analytics. When using both of these tools together you can focus on improving the content in blog posts that drive sales.
Updating old content can be more beneficial a lot of times rather than creating NEW content. Often, you can take a blog post that is getting 1,000 clicks per month and increase that traffic to 5,000 clicks per month. If all you do is create new content on the same topics, you end up overlapping too much and Google doesn’t know what piece of content to rank over another when it comes to a particular topic. For example, if you write a blog post everyday for a year and you end up with 50 different posts on a topic like “link building”, Google won’t know what post to rank for “link building” because you have 50 posts basically talking about the same thing. It confuses Google. Consolidate and go for fewer content pieces that are of high quality. Have one good post per topic rather than 50 mediocre posts on the same topic.
Subscribers is a good tool to use for people that come to your website but then don’t come back. You have to be using https to make this tool work though. If you are not using https, you should be because as I talk about in this post, https is also required for you to be best optimized for voice search.
Subscribers will put a little browser notification to people when they visit your site asking them to subscribe without being obtrusive. It does it all within the browser and they subscribe. Then anytime you have a new blog post of piece of content, you can push it out through subscribers’ service. This helps to drive more traffic, generate more leads and more sales. It’s a great way to get people to come back and build that trust and rapport between your site and the user.
That’s it! Those are 4 of the best and most important Internet marketing tools that I wanted to share with you today.
