Internet marketing is going to change in 2019. What’s been working for the last few years is not anymore. Unless you read this post, you will not do as well in 2019 with your marketing as you would like. This is what you need to do in 2019 with your marketing to thrive and succeed.
The first thing you need to know is that online marketing is moving to an omni channel approach. You use to be able to build a business with just one channel. For example, Facebook grew by telling everyone to just invite all of your friends. They would import your contact list and go from there. Things have changed.
Marketing has changed to an omni channel approach. Now you have to use things like growth hacking, pay per click, SEO, content marketing, social media and banner ads. The list is never ending. The more channels that you use, the better off you are going to be because most of these channels are over crowded with so many online businesses that if you don’t use all of them you just won’t do as well in 2019.
The next thing you need to know and you may not like is that regular search is moving to voice search. By 2020, ComScore estimates that half the searches on Google will be voice search. Right now, 2 out of 5 adults are using voice search. Sure, kids are not using it as much but keep in mind that by 2020, half of ALL searches will be voice search. That includes the younger generation. Make sure you are leveraging voice search. The way you do this is to make sure that your site is on https. Also, your site needs to load fast. Keep in mind, when people are talking in questions, they are usually talking in longer term phrases. Your answers to these questions need to be short and to the point. If your answer is a paragraph long you will not do as well as if it was just one sentence long.
Next, you need to be paying attention to conversion optimization. Advertising is getting more and more expensive over time. That is simply not going to change. The only way you are going to be able to compete and stay ahead is through conversion optimization. The more you optimize your landing pages for conversions, the better off you are going to be. Doing A/B testing will help you squeeze more conversions from the traffic you are getting. If you don’t do this you will get drowned out by your competitors as time goes on and they are going to crush you. So, focus on conversion optimization if you want to be successful.
Another tactic to pay attention to in 2019 is to leverage marketing funnels. Marketing funnels are going to be more popular than ever in 2019. Before optimization was limited to “hey I’m buying ads, how many sales am I getting”. With funnels, you will be looking at upsells, downsells, cross sales, lifetime value of customer and churn. So whether you have a physical product, a digital product or lead generation you need to be paying attention to these things from the initial visit all the way to the conversion point. Finally, know that content marketing just won’t work as well these days. Anytime you do a search, most of the posts at the top are an example of content marketing. Blogging is so popular and so played out that everyone is regurgitating the same information over and over again. So, unless you are creating amazing new information that people haven’t heard before, you are not going to do well. Content marketing just won’t work as well to get links and social shares unless you are creating amazing content that people haven’t seen before.
Bonus tidbit of information: Video marketing and Podcasting… video content is the future. People want to engage through video. Facebook gives you more views if it’s video and of course YouTube will get you tons of views. Even Linkedin gives you more views if it’s video. You need to be leveraging video. You can’t take it for granted. Here’s a great example of a company using video marketing;
Let’s talk about Podcasting. 45% of podcast listeners have a household income of $75,000 or more. That means that people listening to your podcasts are going to be better buyers than on other marketing channels out there. Consider creating a podcast. Everyone is using their phones these days and everyone is driving to work. Podcasts makes it easy for people to consume your content when they are on the go.
So there you have it… leveraging these strategies and tactics will help you do better with your online marketing in 2019.
